1. What are the benefits using NuGiant Smart Surge?
NuGiant Smart Surge is not only a regular surge protector, but also an Energy Saving Smart surge, which eliminates the waste of standby power.
  2. What is Standby Power?
Most experts agree that standby power is electricity used by appliances and equipment while they are switched off or not performing their primary function. That power is consumed by power supplies (the black cubes—sometimes called "vampires"—converting AC into DC), the circuits and sensors needed to receive a remote signal, soft keypads and displays including miscellaneous LED status lights. Standby power use is also caused by circuits that continue to be energized even when the device is "off".
  3. How much standby does my TV, microwave, etc. use?
We measured standby power in hundreds of products. See here for a chart and a table. Other excellent sources exist, notably an ENERGY STAR, and the Federal Energy Management Program.
  4. How much power is used for standby in the US?...Worldwide?
Nobody knows for sure, but it's typically 5-10% of residential electricity use in most developed countries and a rising fraction in the developing countries (especially in the cities). Standby power in commercial buildings is smaller but still significant. Altogether, standby power use is roughly responsible for 1% of global CO2 emissions.
  5. How does this Smart Surge work?
This Smart Surge provides a great energy conservation solution that utilizes the Master-Slave control concept. When this Smart Surge senses the Computer or TV (Master) is not in use and goes into standby mode, it will shut off the Energy Saver Outlets power automatically. Those peripheral devices, such as printer, monitor or DVD player, game console, connected to Energy Saver Outlets, will be powered off right after the Computer or TV is turned OFF, and powered on right after Computer or TV is turned ON.
  6. How can I connect my computer system to Smart Surge?
Connect the computer power plug to the Smart Surge outlet with “Computer” labeled. Connect the peripheral devices, such as monitor printer speaker, to the Energy Saver Outlets (labeled “Monitor”, “Printer”, and “Speaker”). Then, the Smart Surge will perform its way to save you money.
  7. How can I connect my TV/Home Theater system to Smart Surge?
Connect the TV power plug to the Smart Surge outlet with “TV” labeled. Connect the peripheral devices, such as DVD/Blu Ray Speaker Game Console, to the Energy Saver Outlets (labeled “DVD/Blu Ray”, “Game Console”, and “Speaker”). Then, the Smart Surge will perform its way to save you money.
  8. Is this Smart Surge a surge protector?
Yes, it is the safest surge protector with built-in fireproof X3 MOV.
  9. Can Smart Surge save my electrical bill?
Yes. Please refer the standby power chart.
  10. Does this product protect my computer or TV?
Yes. It is a surge protector and we also provide Connected Equipment Warranty (CEW)
  11. What is MOV?
Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) is a power protection device that is able to recognize surge conditions and reacts by shunting excessive energy away from equipment via the electrical grounding system.
  12. What are the differences between regular MOV and X3 MOV?
There are three major benefits of using X3 MOV. First: the ultimate safety reliability. X3 MOV is the safest protective device that is real fireproof. Second: better protection and performance. X3 MOV has better and faster heat dissipation than regular MOV. Third: longer protection lifespan. X3 MOV has more capacity (Joules) to protect against surge than regular MOV.
